“The Eagle Will Always Fly” Through generations grows A rule so engraved into the mind Books written that everybody knows Of the bravest men we will ever find Freedoms are granted and acquired On any level you decide to note and cherish Generations of armies, of the morally inspired Always remembering those who sadly perish Though I respect the common military man There is one who I will always look down on Gave him as much love as one man can Even though memories we shared in a 12 year span Preaching to me the unwritten laws of the soldier Admittedly occurring on a much smaller scale Look of hatred towards a life long sanctifier Forever taught the unwritten law of betrayal The rule is never leave a man behind Accusing and letting your wounded fall Years I ignored pretending to be blind One day you’ll be walking, judgment will call Though I cannot weep another tear for you I dedicate a special rule for you, rightly named Maybe others will see the pain you ensue For the tragedy of the past you may be blamed Whatever of your fallen comrade from yesterday Has it even passed through that mind of yours I’ve always walked alone, so I will be okay As broken paths lead to many open doors Hatred for you, I can no longer successfully deny Though I understand why such an out lash occurred I stand up and state that the eagle will always fly Through trust and respect however I would’ve preferred. So in five or maybe fifteen or so past years You think to yourself “how could I do such a thing” The damage has long since gone, so have the tears You will know I am alive when my throat opens to sing Farewell to this friend of mine, so long ago Turning to walk away, down a different path I dare Remember to learn respect and take things slow In contrast to this hatred, I will always care
